Tampa Bay Buccaneers defender Leonard Fournette recently said he was lucky to have Tom Brady as a teammate as the veteran quarterback and the New England Patriots lost the 2017 AFC Championship Game. After experiencing Brady as a prospect, Fournette jumped at the chance to be Brady when he joined the Buccaneers in the offseason after being released by the Jacksonville Jaguars after three years with the team.
Although he knew he would play second fiddle to Ronald Jones, Fournette signed a one-year contract with the Buccaneers for $2 million, with a maximum balance of $3.5 million through incentives, primarily because of Brady’s egg.
In a USA Today report by Luke Easterling, Fournette said Brady recruited him to join the Pirates. The first person to hit me when it happened was Tom, Fournette said. I knew Tom, and Tom hit me like this: Buddy, I’d like you to come and help us. Fournette said he immediately agreed to Brady’s request and said everyone wanted to play the role of veterans’ quarterbacks.

Now that he’s with the Pirates, Fournette says he’s discovered a priceless brotherhood with the team. To be honest, I like it here. We have a brotherhood. Things are going well now, Fournette said, adding that the team works hard every day and the players help each other improve. The best thing in football is consistency, running back added.
In Jones’ absence, Fournette totaled nearly 140 yards and scored for the Buccaneers in a 31-23 Wild Card victory over Team Washington.
Fournette got lucky with Brady on Team.
In an interview with the Rich Eisen Show on Wednesday, Fournette reiterated his admiration for Brady, whom he praised for his focus and confidence, even under pressure.
He’s always had a laser focus. He knows how important each game is, as always, Fournette said, adding that the experience is different because he is Brady’s teammate, according to the show’s video transcript on YouTube. When you see how confident he is, even when you’re at a low point or in a difficult situation, you know he won’t lose his temper.
Everything remains the same, he added.

The Buccaneers will face the New Orleans Saints in the divisional round and could have an exciting duel with their divisional rival. The Birds lost to the Saints in Week 1 (34-23) and Week 9 (38-3), but hope for a different result on Sunday. Buccaneers star defender Devin White said he hopes to make a statement in the game against the Saints.
