Cam Newton is the most talented quarterback in the NFL. That statement may seem like hyperbole, but let’s take a look at his resume. He entered the league in 2011, and has been an all-pro in each of his first 3 seasons. Cam is also the youngest QB to ever win a Super Bowl, and the youngest to ever win MVP, and he has the fastest 40 time of any QB of all time.

Cam Newton’s Hall-of-Fame Resume Examined By NFL Analyst New Orleans Saints quarterback QB Cam Newton is considered by many to be the best quarterback to enter the NFL in the last decade. A few days ago, Newton set another rookie record, throwing for 377 yards against the New England Patriots. In his first two seasons in the league, Newton has thrown for over 4000 yards, gained over 20,000 passing yards, and tossed over 3000 yards through the air. All of these numbers would be considered astounding for any quarterback, but some leaguewide, Newton is even more incredible.

Cam Newton has been a phenomenon since his career began at Auburn University, and the Carolina Panthers quarterback has not stopped since. Newton’s origin story is the stuff of legend: he grew up in a small town in Georgia, and was a late bloomer who wasn’t even recruited by any of the biggest college football programs in his home state. So, he went on to earn a scholarship at a small school, and knocked a lot of heads along the way.. Read more about is russell wilson a hall of famer and let us know what you think.

Is Cam Newton a Pro Football Hall of Famer?

That’s a question that’s guaranteed to spark a heated discussion. The quarterback of the New England Patriots is one of the most divisive sportsmen in the world. Many football fans are similarly divided on his credentials for enshrinement into the Hall of Fame, just as his style and personality do not connect with everyone.

Newton’s résumé isn’t bad, according to one NFL expert, but Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox believes the former NFL MVP has to do more to solidify his case for a place in Canton, Ohio.

Is a Super Bowl victory the missing piece in Cam Newton’s puzzle?

Newton’s otherwise Hall of Fame career has been “derailed” by injuries, according to Knox.

Here’s more from Knox’s argument for why Newton has to accomplish a bit more to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Newton, on the other hand, struggled with consistency in his throwing in 2020 (eight touchdowns, ten interceptions, and an 82.9 passer rating) and may be on the brink of losing his starting position. Newton was re-signed by New England in the summer, but Alabama quarterback Mac Jones was chosen first overall by the Patriots. Newton, like Kurt Warner, may still reach the Hall of Fame if he can revive his career in New England or somewhere. Although Newton has never won a Super Bowl, he has played in one. He’s also a three-time Pro Bowler, a one-time first-team All-Pro, and a three-time Pro Bowler with 31,698 passing yards and 190 throwing touchdowns. He has 5,398 career running yards and 70 rushing touchdowns, which is maybe even more remarkable. Newton is now ranked 32nd all-time in running touchdowns. He leads all quarterbacks by a large margin (Steve Young is second with 43) and has set the standard for contemporary dual-threat quarterbacks. The 2011 Offensive Rookie of the Year and 2015 League MVP has already done enough to draw Hall of Fame voters’ notice. He should be in Canton after a second spell as a high-level starter. Newton, who is just 32 years old, still has time to resurrect his career and return to the Hall of Fame.

In a recent video, Newton said that last year was the first time in almost three years that he felt healthy. Newton’s 2020 season was far from his finest, but he also caught COVID-19 last year, had a limited summer to learn a new system, and had a terrible collection of throwing weapons.

Knox is right in pointing up Newton’s age as a factor in his favor. It’s remarkable how many people treat Newton as if he’s a 38-year-old quarterback with 18 seasons under his belt. There seems to be a great deal of focus on the next season.

When it comes to the 2021 campaign, even Hall of Famer Deion Sanders remarked, “This is it.” We’ve seen athletes struggle through difficult seasons because they don’t have the same stakes in their age-32 season. What makes you think “this is it” for Newton?

Newton’s HOF résumé has some value even if he doesn’t achieve much else in the NFL. His running statistics from the QB position are rare, and he was named league MVP.

It’s also worth noting that he wouldn’t be the first quarterback in NFL history to be inducted without winning a Super Bowl. The big one was not won by Fran Tarkenton, Dan Marino, Jim Kelly, or Sonny Jurgensen. Dan Fouts, a former Chargers star, never made it to a Super Bowl.

Clearly, none of them have blazed a path for the mobile quarterback like Newton has in the last decade.

Newton’s path to the Hall of Fame is unlikely to end in New England.

When you look at what the Patriots accomplished on the roster to assist Newton, he has the tools he needs to have a successful season, at least for the next season.

While Bill Belichick has committed to Newton as his starting quarterback until Jarrett Stidham or Mac Jones shows themselves to be superior, it is no secret that the latter will get his chance at some time.

Newton’s contract expires at the conclusion of this season, and if he performs as well as he can with a fresh set of weapons, he’ll be able to get a starting job with another club in 2022. Maybe then he’ll be able to put any concerns about his Canton fitness to rest.
