Matthew MacNabb was seen crying on Aftersun after leaving the villa. The show’s host Emma Willis tried to console him, but he said that he had been left with no choice.

Love Island's Matt tears up on Aftersun after leaving villa

On Aftersun, Matthew MacNabb cried as he reflected on his time in the Love Island villa with his fellow residents.

Matt, who came close to tears as he talked about saying goodbye to his friends after Priya Gopaldas’ choice to pair up with new bombshell Brett Staniland after just one day, was the most recent discarded participant on the program.

‘I’m overwhelmed with my feelings right now, and it’s hard to put it into words, but generally, I’d say I’m pleased,’ he confessed. I’ve just been myself.’

As he continued to talk about his friendships, he said that the “toughest part” was letting go of them.

‘Saying goodbye to my fellow islanders – there’s my family in there, and I love those people, so that’s the hardest thing for me,’ he said.

Matt then got clearly upset and asked for “two minutes” to calm himself as he walked away from the camera.

Returning to the interview, Matt said that he had “no regrets” about leaving the villa and was “happy of all I’ve accomplished.”

Afterward, Matt ruefully confessed that he was still’very unhappy’ to Love Island and Aftersun presenter Laura Whitmore live on the program.

However, he joked that things had already gotten out of hand when the captain on his aircraft back to Northern Ireland wanted a photo with him.

He smiled and said, ‘I’m just a regular man from Downpatrick.’

However, the 26-year-old strategic marketing consultant was not sorry to leave his love triangles behind, characterizing his first relationship with Kaz and Tyler as “quite awful on me.”

‘There were a lot of emotions in there for me. It wasn’t pleasant, but it’s over now, and I still like and respect both of them.’

Matt, on the other hand, may still have unfinished business with Priya, as he stated that he still thought “there was a lot there.”

When asked what drew him in, Matt replied, “Honestly, it was her ambition and spontaneity.” We had a lot in common, and she had a lot going for her.

‘She liked to travel and, more importantly for me, she was quite self-sufficient.’

‘There was a lot of it, and, well… that’s a pain!’

Perhaps the stars are aligning for them to give it another try now that Priya called Brett “boring” to the other ladies on their date on Sunday’s episode of Love Island, and the Islanders are being forced to vote for the two least compatible couples.

ITV2’s Love Island resumes tonight at 9pm.
