Chiefs Travis Kelce had eight strikes, 109 yards and a touchdown on Sunday against the Browns.

The Kansas City Chiefs won the AFC Division 22-17 on Sunday without the services of their billionaire quarterbacks. After a clumsy tackle by Cleveland Browns’ linebacker Mack Wilson, Patrick Mahomes had to leave midway through the third quarter with a concussion.

While Mahomes is now in good shape and following the league’s concussion protocol, the move, which left the 25-year-old star clearly disoriented, provoked some negative reactions from onlookers, including Mahomes’ mother Randi.

#51 Wilson, it’s nonsense football, helmet charge, helmet push…. Why weren’t you kicked out? Come on, NFL.

When asked what he thought of the controversial play, Cleveland Chiefs native Travis Kelce didn’t go so far as to call Wilson’s action dirty. However, the double All-Pro revealed what several Browns defenders said on the field immediately after the shocking hit.

You never want to say someone intentionally put someone out of business, Kelce said of Kansas City star writer Sam McDowell. But they flew, and after the first shot they were on fire and said: This is what we do, this is what we do.

So there were a lot of conversations between me and the players. It was mainly about competitiveness. I really feel like they’re good people, and I have a lot of respect for that, especially Miles [Garrett].

Kelce finished the day with eight passes for 109 yards and an impressive touchdown against Pro Bowl cornerback and former No. 4 Denzel Ward.

Patrick Mahomes and Mac Wilson exchange stories on Twitter after game

Despite the general overreaction to the tackle – which did not result in a single penalty flag – Wilson quickly contacted Mahomes via Twitter after the game and said it was a sporting gesture that Mahomes was back.

In another tweet, the linebacker sent a strong message for the second week in a row to those who flooded him with insults and threats on social media.

I’ve never been a bad gambler. I’m just trying to play fast and loose. Try not to insult me and keep your threats to yourself.

Andy Reid at Mahomes: He’s okay

At the post-game press conference, head coach Andy Reid made an encouraging point about his fourth line quarterback.

He got hit in the back of the head and it took his breath away, so we pulled him out, Reed told reporters on Sunday afternoon (via Teresa Paylor of Yahoo Sports). He’s doing very well now, which is very positive when you look at him. He did all the things he had to do. So, let’s see what happens.

Mahomes’ fiancée, Brittany Matthews, also tweeted that she and her husband are doing well after a scary injury.

I’m fine, Patricks is fine, thanks for all the prayers!
WE’VE GOT ONE MORE GAME TO WIN, LET’S GO!!!
