In March 2015 Bruce Beresford-Redman was convicted of the murder of his wife Monica and sentenced to 12 years imprisonment in Just Victor Manuel Echeverria Tun in Mexico for the crime that took place there.
He received a confession that he had served his sentence, and by September 2019 he had served about seven and a half years of his twelve-year sentence. According to NBC Los Angeles, Beresford-Redman’s lawyer, Jaime Cancino, said that under Mexican law prisoners have the right to be released after serving 60 percent of their sentence. Beresford-Redman was released on the 20th anniversary of his death. June 2019 was dismissed for good behavior.
NBC Los Angeles spoke to Beresford Redman’s neighbor, Maria Doll, who expressed his surprise and disappointment at his release.
In the past, people were executed for such things. I think you have a second chance now, said Doll, adding that most people don’t believe he [made enough time]. He should be old and gray when he comes out.

The family rested together in Cancun, Mexico in 2010 when the naked body of Monica Beresford Redman was found in a septic tank near the hotel where she was to celebrate her 42nd birthday. The cause of death was asphyxiation; she was also severely beaten.
In an interview with the Hollywood reporter in 2014, Bruce Beresford-Redman confirmed his innocence by saying that the lack of physical evidence proved that he had not killed her and that the corrupt Mexican justice system had exposed his conviction because the authorities did not want to harm the tourist industry in Cancún by denouncing the violence there.
The sisters Monica Beresford-Redman, Gene and Carla Burgos, incessantly cling to Bruce Beresford-Redman’s guilt. In fact, Gene Burgos testified at the trial about an affair he was having with a colleague. She testified that she knew her sister Monica had met him about the case before she went on vacation and told him she wanted a divorce. Burgos also stated that hotel staff had heard about Bruce’s ongoing contact with his mistress the night before Monica Beresford Redmans’ death.
The case is built around many circumstantial evidence, such as the testimony of Burgos and the fact that the 5th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall was celebrated on 5 September. April, the day Monica died, the key card used in the hotel room on April 6. In April, the system was used 15 times between 9 p.m. and 4 a.m., of which five times between 9 p.m. and 11 a.m..
But Bruce Beresford-Redman told a Hollywood reporter that he didn’t kill Monica and that he missed her every day of his life.

In 2010, when it was first reported that Bruce Beresford-Redman had been interviewed in connection with the death of his wife, a survivor: Amazon candidate Daniel Lue sat down with The Early Show to talk about the producer Lue had known since the start of the show.
I was shocked. I mean, we’re a family of survivors. We just celebrated our 10th anniversary in January. When I knew him, he was just a cool, smooth guy. You must be Survivor’s producer. You’re dealing with a group of hungry, moody survivors. When they pulled me out of the election, he really encouraged me… He’s just not that kind of person, Liu said.
Survivor hopes to premiere in the fall of 2021 as part of the film season № 41.
