Teen Mom OG star Christina Shirley has ended her silence on her feud with ex-husband Amber Portwood. Christina refused to sit on the same bench as Amber, but once the Indiana native left her interview with the former Gary Shirley, Christina took a seat.
Honestly, Leah and I have a strong bond, just like my other two girls, she told Dr. Drew Pinsky. There is no difference.
Dr. Drew asked if Christina, 33, could understand that she felt threatened in her relationship with Amber. My oldest daughter has a stepmother, and I am brave in that relationship, Christina told the celebrity doctor. The more people love them, the more people care about them.
What hurt Christina the most was Amber’s claim that Gary had cheated on her. I would say without a doubt that it had to do with the accusations she made against Gary, Christina explained, that hurt her the most. He said he was cheating on me with her. I suffer a lot. She could have come to me personally to discuss these matters, but I know Gary didn’t…..
Gary explained what started their argument.
Everything was going well between Gary, Christina and Amber until the first episode of Teen Mom OG. Amber didn’t like Gary saying he was going to her house every day for a week to help her with her chores. She was also upset that Gary and Christina considered her their teenage daughter.
Those two comments turned her off, then she started saying online that they were disingenuous and everyone started saying negative things about Amber, Gary told Dr. Drew. Amber, who has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She’s an advocate for mental health and has stayed away from Instagram in the past, but started ranting on Instagram once Teen Mom OG took over this year.
According to Gary, she read all the comments people made about her and was upset that people thought Christina was the best mom for Leah.
Dr. Drew added that Amber probably thinks Gary and Christina didn’t do enough to keep Leah away from her biological mother. I don’t know, Cristina said. I think if Leah had been ready, she would have thrown in the towel.
Why Cristina won’t forgive Amber
Dr. Drew asked Cristina before talking to Amber. She reminds him that Amber never apologized to her for her accusations, even though she wrote a mea culpa to Gary.
Honestly, I’m still a little hurt by the accusation, Christina told her host. She never came to me to apologize. …. She wrote him a letter of apology.
Gary admitted that it was hard for him to have a relationship with Amber after she tried to ruin his relationship with Christina. It’s like inviting a snake, he told Dr. Drew.
Gary adds that he just wants Amber to be happy and healthy, but that she has a hard time accepting that Leah is in an intimate relationship with his wife. I feel like she’s jealous of Christina’s relationship with Leah, he said. She’s dating someone who cares about her daughter.
Teen Mom OG has ended its season, but don’t miss the new Teen Mom 2 cycle when it airs on Tuesday the 4th. May at 8 pm. Eastern time on MTV. For the first time, viewers will see TM2 without Chelsea Houska, although Ashley Banks has been welcomed into the new season.
