The Sounders 2021-22 psychedelic t-shirt celebrates the life and career of the 1960s rock legend, whose band The Jimi Hendrix Experience was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992.
Seattle is and always will be Jimi’s home. Seattle also has the recorders, said Janie Hendrix, president and CEO of Experience Hendrix. Working with the Sounders to design a t-shirt is our way of playing for the home team.
Jimi wanted to honor where you came from. This project allows us to give back to the community he loved. That’s something Jimi would be proud of.

Sounders star Nicolas Lodeiro helped launch a new Adidas shirt officially called The Jimi Hendrix Kit Club.
Jersey conjures up images of an electric guitar, resplendent in its splendor, with a purple haze effect on its face, painted with bright flashes of orange and yellow – accents as bold as love.
Hendrix’s signature also appears on the bottom left corner of the shirt, while the collar features a cassette image with the handwritten lyrics from the song Straight Ahead, which appeared on the 1997 posthumous album First Rays of the New Rising Sun.
It’s not a sandcastle either, and the Sounders’ Jimi Hendrix set also places a high value on promoting and supporting local initiatives. Proceeds from the first 30 days of sales will be donated to five non-profit organizations, all of which support youth sports and/or arts and music.
In addition, the right sleeve of the shirt features the logo of the Puyallup Salmon Tribe, which continues to be the premier national steward of the Puget Sound region of Washington State and recently formed a charitable partnership with the club.
Football shirts with a musical reference are very trendy right now: Irish post-punk band Fontaines DC are sponsoring a new travel kit for a bohemian club in Dublin.
The set, with the band’s name on the chest, raises money for homeless charities, with 15% of the proceeds going to Focus Ireland.

Last season, Bohemians teamed up with human rights organization Amnesty International to design a walking shirt that proudly showed its support for refugees fleeing war around the world.
The Boons are an organization that truly cares about the community, said Tom Call, drummer for Fontaine’s DC. It is amazing that the Dublin football team has the words Welcome to Refugees on its shirt.
Bohs has also released a limited edition Bob Marley T-shirt for the 2018-19 season in honour of the late reggae superstar, who gave his last outdoor concert on the grounds of the Dallimount Park Club in 1980. However, the League of Ireland was soon forced to abandon the project after facing image rights issues, although Marley’s son, Kai-Mani, called it the coolest T-shirt he had ever seen.

In the recent past, even big clubs like Paris Saint-Germain have partnered with big names in the rock world to produce special disposable shirts.
The Parisians have even collaborated with the Rolling Stones to produce a wide range of merchandise, including replica shirts, clothing, skateboards and even Smash helmets.

After recording a number of hits in the early 1990s, Scottish pop group Wet Wet Wet decided to invest some of the proceeds in their club in Clydebank and agreed to sponsor the T-shirt.

In Germany, punk rock veterans Die Toten Hosen are known to have performed on various tracks in Düsseldorf from the 1990s until today.
