LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) – The case of COVID-19 in Los Angeles County continued to decline Tuesday, allowing the county to move to a less severe orange reopening plan in early April.
According to COVID’s weekly update for Los Angeles County, the average daily number of new virus infections in Los Angeles County has dropped from 4.1 last week to 3.7 per 100,000 residents. To qualify for the orange level, the district’s dropout rate must be 3.9 or less.

To move to the orange level, which allows for more openings, the district must meet the criteria for the orange level for two consecutive weeks.
The district must also remain in the red level for at least three weeks before moving to another level.
On the 12th. In March, a red alert was issued in Los Angeles County. So if the current trend continues, the earliest weekend in April could fall to Orange.
At the amber level, the County could remove all restrictions on retail and personal services. The capacity limits for cinemas, churches, museums, zoos, aquariums and restaurants could also be increased from 25% to 50% and for fitness centres from 10% to 25%.
At the same time, open-air bars are allowed to reopen and card rooms and family entertainment centers are allowed to reopen indoors.
Tuesday, Barbara Ferrer, the district’s health director, confirmed the timetable for a possible switch to orange, but she warned of an increase in COVID-19 cases in many states and other countries.

We remain concerned about potential risks that could impede our progress, she said. Risks include the increased spread of variants of concern, the increase in the number of cases in much of Europe and in many states, reopenings, and people’s actions related to spring break and spring holiday.
Ferrer also noted that recent tests have shown an increased incidence of several variants of COVID-19, which are believed to spread much more easily.
The results show that the variants are widespread, which could facilitate transmission if we don’t take precautions, Ferrer said.
Ferrer said they remained confident that current vaccines were effective against these variants, but added that only a limited portion of the population had been vaccinated.
On Tuesday, the district reported 66 additional deaths from COWID-19 and 490 additional cases.
These figures bring the number of provincial deaths to 22,879 and the total number of deaths to 1,215,175.
The number of people hospitalized by COVID on Tuesday was 719, up slightly from Monday’s 713, while the number of people in intensive care was 180.
