After Devin Booker scored 20 points in the Suns’ loss to the Jazz, he was benched for the final three quarters. That was a choice by head coach Earl Watson, the second time Booker has been benched this year.

If you read my articles regularly then you know that I am a big Suns fan. So when I read this article that said Devin Booker was benched and I am not talking about my Suns but the Cards I got mad. Devin Booker is an All-Star caliber player and when you play as a starter you should be in top form.

Phoenix Suns coach Monty Williams talks to Devin Booker.

The Phoenix Suns need a rebound in Game 4 of the NBA Finals against the Milwaukee Bucks, and Devin Booker needs to improve for it.

Booker scored just 10 points on 3-of-14 shooting and sat on the bench the entire fourth quarter. The 24-year-old guard rarely has a bad night in the postseason, averaging 40.1 minutes, 26.3 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.7 assists.

Devin Booker came from Milwaukee to Phoenix in Game 3. He even went so far as to ask the coach to take him out the entire fourth quarter. Game over on the bench. It was a disastrous night for the Suns’ best player. More @Undisputed, now on FS1.

Suns head coach Monty Williams said he wants his star defender – and everyone else – to play with more strength. He clarified exactly what that meant.

On both sides, just sprint relentlessly, hit the corners on offense and defense, come back and form a wall, Williams said. It was something that seemed inconsequential to us, and our players thought the same thing when they watched the film yesterday. They all agreed. If we do, we give ourselves a chance to succeed. It’s not a panacea, of course, but it helps us play the way we want to play.

Monty Williams said he worked with Devin Booker late in the third quarter. The third period is about the power the Suns have to play, the usual stuff.

Booker scored a total of 58 points in the Suns’ first two wins in the series and plans to use the memory of the shortstop to overcome this obstacle.

I’ve been there. So understand it, understand the game, understand the situations you’ve been through and trust the work you’ve done, Booker said. But my main goal there is to win a basketball game.

Bucs expect strong comeback from Booker

The Bucks are the favorites in Game 4 and would bring the series to 2-2 with a win. But no one expects Booker to have it easy.

After [a bad game], he gets really scary, Eaton said. I know his mentality and I know that games like this don’t slow him down. We know it was one of those games, but I know he will get better and so will the team.

The Bucks expect the same from an All-Star defender.

He’s a great player, but he’s also a human being. But I think we expect to have to be even better with him, Budenholzer told reporters in the post-game press conference. We just have to be prepared for Devin Booker to be very good in Game 4.

Chris Paul supports Booker after tough night

While Booker’s bad night didn’t help the Suns, veteran guard Chris Paul said the whole team has to be better to win because basketball is not an individual sport.

It’s not a wave. This isn’t tennis. You know what I mean? We’re all in this together, Paul said. Everyone on the team took the loss badly, as they should. We never go into a game expecting to lose. If you show me a man who expects to lose, I’ll show you a loser. So everyone on our team felt like this or that. We felt like we could do better.

Suns guard Chris Paul was asked about Devin Booker’s problems in Game 3, but downplayed the individual issues: It’s not a wave. This isn’t tennis. All together.

The Suns are just two wins away from the franchise’s first NBA title, and Booker accepts the pressure that brings.

I just understand the task and the fact that you have to be better if you want to win the game, Booker said. That’s certainly what I want, and what the whole team, the coaching staff, the coaching staff and the whole city wants.

So I’d say that’s a good pressure. These are the times when you prepare and train as hard as you do now. So you must be excited about it.
