The land which is  today ‘ ‘ called the  ‘ India ‘ ‘ is the most ancient country of the world which is the land of many civilizations. It has a long and a proud history. It is the land where people have lived since the times immemorial.

There is no doubt about it that the western part of India is one of the beautiful and most romantic places in the world. The intricate nature of the Western Ghats is truly awe-inspiring. The Western Ghats are located in the Western part of India, which is the country’s most expansive and beautiful region. The region is home to the Western Ghats National Park which is the second biggest national park in India after the Bandipur National Park in Karnataka.

Western India, is also known as the west coast of India. This region consists of the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, and Karnataka. It is located in the western part of India, adjacent to the Arabian Sea.

The West Indies is unique in its own way and very diverse in almost every way. It is a place full of ethnicities and varied cuisines.

States and allied territories included in the West Indies

Western India includes the states of Goa, Gujarat and Maharashtra and the union territories of Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. Western India is more or less bounded by the Thar Desert in the northwest, the Vindhya Mountains in the north and the Arabian Sea in the west. Much of western India shares the Deccan plateau with southern India.

Gujarat was the birthplace of the Indus Valley civilization. In Gujarat, sites have been discovered in Lothal, Surkotad and the Ghaggar River region of Rajasthan. In ancient times, Western India was ruled by the Rashtrakut Empire, the Maurya Kingdom, the Gurjars, the Rajputs, the Satavahans, the Western Satraps, the Indo-Greeks, the Kadambas, etc. The province consists of the mainly arid and semi-arid region of Saurashtra and Kutch in the north. In South Kambaya and South Gujarat, the semi-arid region in the north and the humid region in the south are under water, although the region itself is humid or sub-humid. Maharashtrian traditions have their origins in the ancient Vedic Hindu culture, which was heavily influenced by the Maratha Empire. Maharashtrians are proud of the Maratha Empire, and many places in Maharashtra are named after the founder of the Shivaji Empire. Marathi literature and cinema are admired in the state and across India. Bollywood has a huge influence on the lifestyle and ethnicity of this part of India, as the industry is mainly based in Mumbai.

The cuisine of the West Indies is varied. Maharashtrian cuisine is varied and ranges from bland to hot. Pohay, Shrikhand, Pav Bhaji, Vada Pav are good examples of Maharashtrian cuisine. Goanese cuisine is dominated by the use of rice, coconut, seafood, cocum and cashew nuts. With its signature spices and coconut oil as a cooking medium, vegetarian and non-vegetarian cuisines are equally popular.  Maharashtra, on the other hand, has some of the best vineyards in India and the Nasik and Sangli districts are the largest wine producing areas in the country.

The climate varies between humid tropical, humid and dry tropical and semi-arid. There is a moderate seasonal variation in the coastal areas, with temperatures ranging from 20°C to 38°C. In Mumbai and the northern Konkan regions, winters are cooler, with minimum temperatures around 12°C. In the interior of Maharashtra, summers are hot, with maximum temperatures averaging 40°C, and winters are mild, with minimum temperatures averaging 10°C. Gujarat also has a warm climate with hot summers and cool winters.

The average literacy rate in Western India is about 76%, which is higher than the national average of 70.5%. The population density is about 290 people per square kilometer. The average fertility rate is 2.2 and the average family size is 4.7. West Indies is a place where you will find many varieties in different industries.
